So what’s with all the cats?
I’ve been very grateful for my two cat companions lately. They’re almost eight months old now and have become a lot more trusting of us in the last few weeks. Our little fluffy tabby girl, in particular, is growing much more affectionate, which has been a welcome surprise since for the first couple of months neither paid us any attention at all!
So I’ve been doodling feline friends in celebration of them and their furry kind. These sketches are a follow-on from the continuous line drawings I’d started doing, but after the initial line drawings, I’ve worked into them with pencils, ink, and watercolours, adding extra details for their features. I’m drawing on scrap paper which makes me less fearful of making mistakes, after all, mistakes are usually when things begin to get interesting.
Spending little chunks of time on these has been a bit of light relief from struggling with Excel spreadsheets for the majority of last week! These sketches are a way to boost my imagination but are also keeping me sane. I’m not a fan of the spreadsheet or numbers in general; really they just all look the same to me! (Some are slightly bigger than others, admittedly). But what HMRC commands I must obey.
Number 33 of the ideas on my big list was to make a PDF pattern for a simple soft toy. Making sewing patterns to sell is something I’ve wanted to do for a long, long time! Not sure if there will be a market for them but there’s only one way to find out. I think I have an idea based on one of these but it’ll need a lot of development before it’s fully formed. Glad to have made progress on this idea, no matter how tiny it is.
I had other things to write about but I’m out of time, so they’ll just have to wait. I’ve still got loads of admin to do this week so will be carrying on with quick daily sketches to break up the most monotonous tasks. Please take good care of yourself… I hope you can find time for fun stuff too!

How lovely that the cats are showing you some love! :-) I'm thankful to past me for getting my spreadsheets sorted AND doing the taxes a couple of weeks ago. It is so tedious, isn't it?! :-D
